Wedding Registry Privacy: What to Check Before Sharing Your Link
The short answer
Before sharing a registry, open its guest view while signed out and review exactly what is visible. Check names, photos, dates, addresses and your personal story. Search visibility, password protection and direct-link access are different settings; do not assume one controls the others.
A website password may not cover every page
Platforms have different privacy tools. Zola's help page says its registry does not have a separate password option while describing search-visibility settings and a password option for its wedding website. Protecting one website does not establish that every linked page is protected. Read the current help page for the platform you use. This is a checking guide, not a claim that every service offers the same controls.
Read the page as a stranger would
Open the exact link you intend to share in a signed-out browser. Read the whole page, including any visible gift messages or profile details. Decide whether each detail belongs in front of everyone who can open the link. Use a photo you are comfortable sharing. Leave out account numbers, sensitive documents and private family information. Your description can be warm without explaining income, debt balances or security arrangements.
Check linked pages separately
If your website links to several registries, inspect each one. Confirm delivery-address settings with the provider rather than assuming an address is hidden because you cannot see it while logged in. Ask a trusted person to check if controls are unclear. Changing search visibility may not remove material someone has already saved or shared. Think about what to publish before relying on a setting to undo it.
Keep sharing intentional
Send guests the correct page through your chosen communications. If privacy matters, avoid posting the registry broadly on public social accounts. After the celebration, review whether the page still needs to be available. The Forever Fund is one option for a registry toward your financial future. Before sharing any registry, including ours, inspect its current guest view and ask about any privacy control you cannot verify.
Frequently asked questions
Does unsearchable mean private?
Not necessarily. A page may still open for anyone with its direct link.
Do linked registries inherit my website password?
Do not assume so. Test them separately and read the provider guidance.
