How The Forever Fund Works

From creating your registry in minutes, to a guest's secure checkout, to the deposit into a brokerage account you own, here is how a celebration gift moves through The Forever Fund.

Do gifts arrive as cash or as purchased investments?

The safest current description is that net gifts arrive as cash in the connected brokerage account unless a confirmed brokerage feature executes a separate trade.

A payment contribution and a securities trade are different events. The Forever Fund should describe the contribution as a cash deposit into the recipient's brokerage account unless an executed order is confirmed by the brokerage. The recipient remains responsible for deciding whether, when, and how to invest the available cash.

Does The Forever Fund give guests actual shares of stock to transfer?

No. The core Forever Fund flow is a monetary gift into the recipient's connected brokerage account, not a guest-to-recipient transfer of existing securities.

No. Guests contribute money through the registry checkout. The recipient owns the connected brokerage account and controls any investment decision after the gift arrives. Registry labels may describe goals or investments, but they should not be presented as proof that a specific security was purchased unless the brokerage confirms an executed trade.
